“Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself”
inspiration
While riding my bike on the playa at Burning Man I spied this man. It was Tutu Tuesday, when everyone wears a tutu, unless you don’t want to. There are few rules at Burning Man.
This gentleman walked along covered in fine playa dust, wearing his tutu, hiking boots and nothing else.
Later that day a Funk band played the song “Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself Again”.
This tutu’d man seemed a great example of the spirit of individual freedom to be ourselves.
technique / materials / dimensions
I formed this gentleman by creating a wire armature, then bulked out his body with Apoxy sculpting clay. The tutu is formed of copper wire mesh. He’s powdered with acrylic paint as we all were covered head to toe in fine playa dust. He stands on a granite slab.
