“FULL MOON HOWL”
inspiration
Every full moon during the winter season the Durango Nordic Center hosts a Full Moon Howler with a bonfire and naturalist led snowshoe on the ski trails. This piece is inspired by the groomers’ tales of the wildlife they see in the wee hours of the morning when they prepare the ski trails.
technique
I created the bas relief raised features - wolves, trees, snow and mountains with epoxy clay and used acrylic paint to create the contrast of the brilliant snow and the dark trees in this moon lit black and white scene.
