“cellist”
inspiration
I attended a concert at Fort Lewis College recently, where I was enamored by Maeve Wilder playing her cello with such grace and love for her music. I found her backstage at intermission where she agreed to pose with her cello for reference pictures for this bas relief sculpture. Cello has been a constant in Maeve's life, since she fell in love with the sound of it at the age of 10. She graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2023 with a major in environmental science with minors in music and psychology. She currently does the “Durango Tango,” working 3 jobs, including teaching cello at Stillwater Music.
technique
I created the Cellist of epoxy applied to a stretched canvas painted with water based acrylic. Then I added shine to the cello and the art deco window with Polycrylic. The canvas is mounted in a natural, floating wood frame, ready to hang.
