“doggy in the window”
inspiration
Our dear Sasha loved to ride in the car, head out the window letting the wind toss her ears. Sasha was a mellow elder when we got her from her foster home one New Year’s Eve. We learned that if we howled just right, she would join in with her howling version of Jingle Bells.
technique
I shaped Sasha’s head, neck and ears with wire covered with foil, then a layer of extra heavy gesso. I applied more gesso with a palette knife to create her fur. I made her nose and eyes of Apoxy sculpting clay, then painted her with acrylic. I fashioned the car window frame of wood and foam core covered in gesso and acrylic paint.
